Friends of the Varsity Reds (Friends and Alumni)

This program allows you to personally support the many quality student-athletes who contribute significantly to UNB while wearing the red, black and white of the Varsity Reds. This initiative was created with a vision of attracting the highest quality student-athletes to our campus by providing financial awards for deserving individuals. Student-athletes are the centre of our program and to that end, revenues generated through the "Friends" initiative are directed to athletic awards. "Take the Challenge"......

Read with the Reds (Youth - District 18 Students)

The Read with the REDS program has UNB student-athletes visit kindergarten classes promoting literacy by reading to the students. These role models give the students the opportunity to share time together, learn more about the life of a student-athlete and most of all, the enjoyment of reading. This year with the creation of our own book "SU and Red become Jr. Reds" each kindergarten child in District 18 will receive a copy of the book (French or English) and several copies will be left for the school's library. Approximately 1,100 children benefit from this program each year.

Heads up the Reds (Youth - District 18 Students)

UNB Athletics and District #18 have created a strong partnership having UNB Athletes visit local schools and speaking with children. The Heads Up With the REDS program has been going strong for 7 years with four athletes presenting positive messages to upper elementary students. Over 30 UNB student-athletes are enrolled in this initiative. The message, ‘REDS’, illustrates to students the importance of Respect, Esteem, Dedication and Strategy. The concepts, which include the ideals of fair play, self esteem, dedication to school work and healthy eating, along with goal setting and creating a plan, illustrates that both all students within the public school system and the student-athletes from UNB need to follow in order to be successful in life.
